About Oppono
Built by coaches, for coaches. We understand the challenge of finding grassroots fixtures because we live it every week.
The Problem We're Solving
Every weekend, thousands of grassroots football coaches across the UK spend hours searching for opponents. They post in Facebook groups, fire off WhatsApp messages and wait. It's chaotic, time-consuming and unreliable. Games fall through at the last minute. Squads are left without fixtures. Players miss out on football.
This is the reality for grassroots football in the UK — and it's a problem that has been largely ignored by technology. Most digital tools are built for professional clubs, not for the coach who volunteers their Saturday mornings to keep the beautiful game alive at a local level.
Oppono was created to change that.
Our Vision
Oppono's vision is to become the UK's home for grassroots football fixtures. We are building a platform that makes it simple for any team — regardless of size, budget or technical ability — to organise their fixture list efficiently.
We started in South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, proving the concept at a local level before expanding nationally. Every feature we build is informed directly by the coaches and club officials who use the platform daily.
In the future, we plan to expand Oppono to support referees looking for matches, venues seeking bookings, and parents wanting visibility of their child's fixture schedule. Grassroots football is a community — and Oppono will be the technology that connects it.
The Founder
James
Founder, Oppono
James is a grassroots football coach and technology professional based in South Yorkshire. Having experienced first-hand the challenges of organising fixtures through Facebook groups and WhatsApp, he built Oppono to solve a problem he faced every single week.
Oppono combines James's passion for grassroots football with his experience in building digital products, creating a platform that is both technically robust and genuinely useful for coaches on the ground.
